About Boerewa:

We support local! Wherever possible we look for a local supplier and we buy direct. We believe in supporting the local economy and instead of our products coming from distribution centres in large cities, we try our best to source and support local.

At Boerewa, we have gone out of our way to make online grocery shopping as seamless as possible.
To start with all you have to do is register with your email address and password.
You can then start shopping by adding items to your basket and once you have added all your items, you can go view your basket (look for the basket icon at the top right-hand corner of your screen). You can now view and even edit quantities, add a coupon code if you have one, and once you are ready to make your purchase, you can proceed to the check-out button at the bottom right-hand corner of the page.
At this point you will be asked to fill in all your delivery details. PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME TO DO THIS THOROUGHLY AND CORRECTLY. You will only have to do this once (unless you move) so take care to do it correctly please. You will be asked to click on the terms and conditions and then place your order. All that is left then is for you to pay.

Boerewa have partnered with Zapper as a payment gateway. This process is simple and takes only a few minutes to set up. You will need to download the Zapper app on your smartphone and link your card payment details to the app. One you have done this, it’s as easy as “scan to pay”. You will see a big circle icon (scan/pay) in the middle of your app when open, push the icon, and simply scan your screen to pay.

All transactions completed will be delivered within 2 days. We do NOT deliver on Sundays, so all orders placed on Friday will be delivered on Monday.

Zapper Payments:

Oh yes! Zapper uses military grade encryption to ensure that no one can obtain your card details. Your card details are not stored on your phone or on our website.

Open your Zapper app, press the menu button at the top left of your app (3 lines).
Press the settings button by security. There is a request PIN for payments slider. Slide it on and enter a 4-digit security PIN.

Yes. Once you have selected the “request PIN for payments” and entered you 4-digit PIN, you will see an “Enable Fingerprint authentication” appear under the “request PIN for payments”. Simply slide it on and use set your fingerprint as requested.

The “I forgot my password” feature will reset your password settings. Keep in mind that resetting your password will also clear all your account information and you will need to add your details again. Safety first!

You can mail our Support team at support@zapper.co.za, requesting that your account be locked with immediate effect. Please provide us with the mobile number and email address you registered with, so that we’re able to access your profile.

When a bank flags a card as stolen, Zapper is notified and our fraud teams will stop the processing of any transactions and assist you/your bank as much as we can.

  • Is your card activated for e-commerce transactions? If not, please contact your bank to activate this feature.
  • Does the merchant accept your card brand? Some merchants may not accept all card brands, e.g. Diners Club.
  • Does your cardholder name consist of a hyphen? If so, please remove the hyphen from your cardholder name and re-register the card.
  • Has your card expired? Please check the expiry date on your card.

our story

Story matters, and here is ours…


Born in Durban to an Afrikaans family, I went to an English school. So, although I may speak English, my heart is Afrikaans. I’m an English speaking BOER!
Boerewa was conceived in a conversation with my beautiful wife Marzanne at the Boeremark. We enjoyed the produce and liked the idea of supporting local, but purchasing a week’s produce had its challenges. The walking surface is also not smooth enough for a trolley so the husband quickly becomes like a overloaded mule; the weather –_either too hot or too cold – plays its part as well. After complaining about the challenges to my wife, she asked why I did not offer a solution. “Why not take the Boeremark to the people,” she asked, and the Boerewa idea was born.

Many months later, and with many hours of hard work from a team of experts, we have finally launched. As we did our research, we discovered that local producers often get paid a fraction of the cost that we, the consumer, end up paying at retailers. This is not fair and it has become one of our goals to narrow the gap. We would like the consumer to pay less and the producer to get paid more, and we are well on our way to achieving this goal.

Lastly, I love my people and I hate to see them suffer. I would like to make a difference where I can, so another goal is to support structures that are currently feeding our people. This is a work in progress and as soon as we have the details, we will share more info with you.
It is our intention to give you the best service possible, so please feel free to give us any advice on how to improve our business model. If we make any mistakes, I humbly apologise and ask that you give us time to perfect the process.
